The
boardgame once known as simply "SNOW - the boardgame" has moved on since
those early days and become a red hot, vein-bursting, laughter-extorting,
gut-spilling badass of a game. Unfortunately, here as well, there is only
a Norwegian version available, and this only in two copies, whereof one is
at my parents house, dusty and forgotten, and one is at André Tsolis'
flat, most likely tattered, broken, humiliated and burned.
This game
was completely created by myself, and I cannot thank enough the people who
joined in on the games of testing, which always werre tons and TONS of
fun. I will try and finish the game just as much for you as for myself and
my personal pride.
The
Story in the Game:
In a
snowman's life there are few things that are more important, except
perhaps money, than finding a place to stay over summer. To begin with,
huge freezers were placed in hidden places to be within reach of the
snowmen of the world. When seasons and years passed and more and more
snowmen came together and formed organizations and grouped themselves,
more and more freezers were needed, untill one day they just said 'Stop!'
and said that to avoid overpopulation amongst the snowmen, there should
not be built more freezers for the purpose of saving snowmen. If you are
too late, then sorry, you DIE (mothafucka!).
A lot of
snowmen were not too happy with this, but little could they do, and again
seasons and years passed. After a while, the leader of an Organization
named SUI (Snowmen of the Underground International) realised that every
year there was a huge fight finding place between the last snowmen to get
the last place in the last freezer. This became a great entertainment
value, and before long, this was formed into a reality show: -SNOWDOWN.
So here you
are, as a participant in the reality show SNOWDOWN, you are one of the
last snowmen fighting your way to the center of a storage building in
order to find the hidden entrance to Ye O' Great Freezer, placed in the
basement, and all this is served to an audience on international TV. -And
they can vote you out!

Which
for some reason was made on solid wood and it qould probably survive
an earthquake. Handpainted and illustrated and covered with two
layers of clear lack. |

What
happens now:
Well, as
usual, I don't really have anyone to kick my ass into gear to finish this
project, and most likely, it will be translated into an English version
before any perfection and completion of the game happens. I still hope my
players up in Norway keep the spirit strong, and I cannot but remember
with a smile that one of the first things my ex-colegues at Avalon asked
when I came back after being in England for half a year was if there was a
possibility I could run a game before I left. Thus I was happy.
